...mself. It’s also shown that Gatsby is somewhat of a liar when he lies about his education at Oxford University in order to be more impressive and become a person of a higher social standard. It’s Gatsby persistence to win over Daisy that makes him strive so hard during his life for excellence and leave his childhood of poverty behind. His dream for success is even shown in a daily schedule that Gatsby had made for himself at a younger age. The author does a good job of revealing Gatsby throughout the whole book. The way the author orders the events really adds to the story. Based off of the title it’s expected that everything is about Gatsby. As the story goes on a whole array of main characters is introduced. Gatsby is not even introduced into the book until after a few opening chapters. The author uses this to build up background and introduce most of the other characters. Having Nick meet Daisy at her tea party allows Fitzgerald to introduce the rest of the characters such as Tom, Jordan Baker, and eventually leading to Myrtle and George Wilson.
