Continuous physical activity helps strengthen the immune system by stimulating corticosteroid production increasing the amount of white blood cells. This allows your body to be more resistant to colds and the flu. You also develop the ability to deal with allergic reactions better and reduce your risk of developing cancer. Physical fitness also improves psychological well-being. It improves the way in which we deal with stress as well as mental functioning, such as decision making, planning and short-term memory. Physical activity also reduces anxiety and promotes healthy sleep patterns. Regular physical activity is important throughout life in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
