...y which was now at 26th ave/Yesler st. On September 5th 1951 Jimmy re- enrolled in Rainer- Vista for the Third Grade classes. On October 27th of 1951 Pamala Margerite, Jimmy’s half-sister was born. Just like the past two siblings Pamala was adopted at a very early age. On December 17th of 1951 Allen and Luciell Hendrix were divorced and Allen received custody of the children. After moving yet again on Sepember 5th of 1952 Jimmy continues his education in Rainer-Vista Elementry School. After moving to 1603 26th ave, Jimmy enrolles at Leschi Elementry School. Limmy made close friends with many school boys, among them were Terry Johnson and James Williams. During the summer of 1954 Allen takes Jimmy, Leon, Terry, and James to a Flash Gorden movie. They grew up likeing the Flash Gorden movies, they could tell that it was not real, but for them it was fun and exciting. In 1955 the boys Leon and Jimmy had to take care of themselves for the most part. Allen Hendrix had to go to work from 3:30-11:30 pm, while the boys would leave school at 3:10. Most of the time they got home after Allen left. They would usually have cheese sandwiches in the refridirator. On June 17th of 1958 Jimmy finally graduated from Leschi Elemntry. Jimmy started Meaney Junior High School on September 7th of 1955.During his High School years Jimmy want to live with his aunt and uncle, that lived on Cherry st. During that time he work mainly on poems and read them to his and and uncle’s daughter Diane. Because of his relocation issues, on Feburary 23rd of 1956 Jimmy joined Jimmy Williams and Terry Johnson at Washington Junior High. Jimmy found his love for guitars with Elvis Presley, he and Bobby (Diane’s Brother) would use brooms as guitars and put on a show for Diane and her parents. Jimmy moved again to Yesler Wayand 30th ave, because of his location he had to re- enrolle in Meany Junior High. In his new home, Jimmy lived over a guy who had a guitar. He began to play an actuall guitar at thast time. Although he soon discovered that he was a left handed guitar player. Whenever he played the guitar he had to switch the strings to their other ends and play. To Jimmy the sound still didn’t feel right, so he went down to a nearby music store and taught himself how to tune a guitar. In November of 1957 Jimmy met Little Richard for the first time. Little Richard’s mother lived around the block from where Jimmy lived.On January 3rd of 1958, Lucille Hendrix married Bill Mitchelle. Although their marrige did not last long, that was because on Febuarary 2nd of 1958 Lucille died of a raptured spleen, because of drinking problem. Jimmy’s carrer began to take off on the summer of 1958. After learning as many riffs as he could from music that he heard on records, he beleved that he was goood enogh to start his own band. He gathered some school frinds that knew how to play other instruments and created his own band “The Velvetones”. He got Walter Jones as a drummer, Robert Green playing the piano, Luther Rabb playing the Tenor and Baritone Sax, Anthony Atherton on the alto sax, and he and Pernell Alexander would play guitar. Jimmy got his first guitar from a friend of his father. His father’s friend was stoned and decided to sell the guitar to Jimmy for five dollars. “The Velevtones” got their first gigs at Polish hall, Washington hall, The Boys Club, and the YMCA, although, their best performance was at the Battle of The Bands. They played against the “Rocking Kings”, after the Battle of The Bands was over the “Rocking Kings convinced Jimmy to play guitar in their band. On September 9th of 1959 Jimmy entered Garfield High School. During fall of 1959 Allen Hendrix bought Jimmy an Electric guitar, which was a Supro Ozark 1560 s. Although they could not fnd the money to pay for an Amplifier for the guitar, Jimmy still continued to practice while playing with the “Rocking Kings”. On Febuary 20th of 1960 the “Rocking Kings” performed at Washington hall. In Spring of 1960 Jimmy’s Supra guitar is stolen at a gig that the:”RockingKings” got in Birdland, Seattle, then in June, Al buys Jimmy a Danelectro guitar. Then in July of 1960 James Thomas started his own band,”Thomas&the Tom Cats”, with Jimmy playing guitar In September of 1960 Jimmy got in a lot of trouble when he stole clothing from Wilner’s Clothing Store, soon after, he decided to join the A-1s and he inlisted in the recruitment office as part of the military. On October 31st of 1960 Jimmy Hendrix drops out of Garfield High School without graduating. On March 1st of 1961 Janie Hendrix is born. Jaine was Jimmy and Leon’s adopted sister. On April of 1961 Jimmy and James get a guitar amplifier for Jimmy at Myers Music. On May 2nd and 5th of May in 1961 Jimi gets arrested for taking a ride in a stolen car, although, Jimi didn’t know that it was stolen. On May 6th Jimi was sentanced to 7 days in Rainer- Vista Juvinille Center. After, on May 17th Jimmy enlisted into the Army. Before leaving for the 101st U.S. Airborn Division in California on the 31st, Jimmy gives an engagment ring to Betty Jean Morgan during a dance. On August 4th after completing basic training, Jimmy is ranked a Private.On September 1st Jimmy returns to Seattle for a week. On September 8th Jimmy leaves Seattle to go bact to California. Having lost his bus ticket, Jimmy ends up in San Fransisco. On September 11th Jimmy finally makes it back to California, only to be transferred to Fort Cambell in Kentucky on Novermber 8th.On November 20th, Jimmy begins jump school. Billy Cox hears Jimmy play guitar in November of 1961, and they form their own small group, The King Kasuals, and began a regular act at The ...
