...ia is there to give her a chance at life and provide guidance her. As a superintendent at Lowood, she provides a role model of compassionate behavior while exhibiting leadership skills. Her kindness is exhibited when she gives snacks to the girls when their food was not edible. An example of Mrs. Temple’s actions is when she attempts to give the girls seed-cake. She says, “I meant to give each of you some of this to take with you,….but as there is so little toast you must have it now”(Bronte 518). Jane’s progress and behavior at the Institution began to prove quite successful and Jane was rewarded by Maria and was allowed to begin French classes. This is an example of Mrs. Temple’s strong judgment and leadership skills. Jane was taught many life long skills and important lessons throughout her stay at Lowood institution. Maria showed Jane how to be a leader and use a firm hand, but to still be a compassionate woman. Looking back in retrospect Jane was able to implement the morals that were taught to her by Maria. She supplemented Jane’s morals, will, intelligence, strength, and courage by exemplifying different roles for women in society. Maria showed Jane what it was like to be a successful woman during this era. Her guidance and teachings sculpted Jane into the adult women she blossoms into. Jane’s adult life begins at Thornfield where she uses her lessons learned at Lowood to teach there. She is presented with a child there that has small complications such as a few behavior issues and minor learning complications.
