How to Make a balloon dog
...oon is blown up too much or all the way it won’t be able to be manipulated into shape and will simply break. The basic twist is very simple and easy to do. Grasp the balloon with both hands and with the thumb and forefinger from one hand, pinch the balloon and twist each end in opposite directions. Don’t let go or the twist will undo itself. When performing a basic twist a bubble is created in the balloon. Each place on the balloon where the basic twist is used is called a joint. These joints will also be twisted together holding the dog into place. Practice making a basic twist and while holding onto one bubble, create another bubble section by doing a basic twist further down the balloon. After making four bubble sections of the balloon, fold the balloon in half to have two sets of bubbles side by side. Grasp the top set of bubbles and rotate them 360 degrees four or five times to lock the bubbles into place. Once the basic twist and the joint twists are mastered, let the fun begin. To create the dog simply start at the beginning with the knot end and twist a three to four inch long bubble. It must be twisted two or three times around being sure to hold both ends of the balloon. While holding onto the twisted balloon, make another bubble the same size. This will be one of the ears. Make another bubble the same size for the other ear. Bring together the first joint made and the third joint together and twist four or five times. With these joints twisted together they will hold and stay together, so it is safe to let go. With the face and ears done it’s time for the neck. Twist a two to three inch long bubble. This is the neck so be sure to not let it go just yet. For the front legs, begin by twisting a two to three inch bubble not letting go of the neck. Twist another two to three inch bubble and bring the last two joints together as was done when making the ears. Remember to twist the joints together four or five times to keep them in place. If the bubbles are not in the right direction for legs, twist them until they are. Don’t be afraid of moving the bubbles in the direction they need to be in for the right part of the body...
