Online communication often lacks in nonverbal communication cues such as voice tonality, facial expressions, and eye contact. Online education also reduces the opportunity for immediate clarification; therefore, feedback does not exist. Although instructors in the on-line environment will certainly respond to student questions and clarifications, the process can be lengthy and, at most times, frustrating for students. In addition to the isolation factor, many students find that the online environment at home, limits their ability to learn in a way that matches their learning style. Especially for visual and auditory learners, who need the presence of a spoken word, this can be a real challenge. Another challenge to online education is online students find their online programs to be a bit of a technological burden.
