...he United States of America is one of only a few countries in the world which executes mentally ill people, people with very low IQ’s, and murderers under the age of eighteen. This is the way it should be. No matter what condition you are in it’s an eye for an eye. Convicted murderers should not be given the chance to stay alive, and possibly get out on good behavior or a possibility of parole. The only way justice can be served for the victim and the victim’s family is for the killer to be sentenced to death. There cannot be any risk of the criminal breaking out of jail and killing or injuring some one. Once the murderer is sent to death there is no chance of this occurring. There is also no point in keeping people on death row alive. They will only live an unproductive life, and in my opinion don’t deserve to stay alive. Having murderers on death row just costs the tax payers money. Once the person is executed and buried there are no further maintenance costs. It usually costs $20,000 to $40,000 per year to stay on death row. Instead of using all of this money to keep killers alive and paying for inmate’s luxuries such as television sets and books, it should go towards useful things the tax payers can actually benefit from.
