Burned Out and Bored

This craving from the increased stimulation has been able to mask the fatigue experienced. Ronald Dahl shows in his research, that children constantly busy with multiple activities may experience disturbances in their sleep patterns that create fatigue. In Ronald Dahl’s findings, he shows that children have more stimulation than in prior history. The theme parks, movies, and even after school activities that children interact with are more intense and fast paced than anything ever offered. Mr. Dahl explains that boredom is a need for changing activities or speed, not constant entertainment. It is apparent that the more stimulation children have, the more they want and the more they continue to be bored. Children’s boredom has become unquenchable. It is this over stimulation that seems to be creating a feeling of displacement or imbalance. Mr. Dahl explains that over stimulation creates sleep-deprived children.
