[setting, music, motifs, choreography]

The film Billy Elliot, which was directed by Stephen Daldry, is very artistically distinctive. It combines an array of artistic aspects to portray the dominant theme of the film – ‘be yourself’, as well as capturing life during the North-East England miner’s strike of 1984-85. These artistic techniques comprise of the films setting, the music that is used throughout the film, the motifs (and symbols) that occur during the film, and finally the choreography. All these artistic devices make Billy Elliot a successful film.
