...e what he thinks he has known he really does not therefore causing him to doubt everything he has come to learn. He has only known the things that his senses have led him to believe. The question of how we are here and why we are here has troubled everyone’s mind a time or two. I know it has mine. It seems as though at this point in Descartes mind he is not only uncertain of his beliefs, but basically everything. He makes a statement about the varity of education he has had. He basically says that many of the things he has learned are doubtful, but thing such as arithmetic and geometry are certain. I think that through all of this thought Descartes is trying to find out what he has really done in his life, and find the truth about everything. The only problem is that the many things that he wants to find the truth about are things that one can only have faith in. ...
