...sguising the characters. The costumes were exactly what I expected. I thought each character’s costume represented their personality. I know the characters were upset, along with mentally sick, but their screaming was somewhat distracting; although, it did fit their roles. I did think the lighting helped set the mood for the entire play. The audience had a better feeling for what was going to happen according to the lights. I thought Beth’s opening costume was particularly effective. With her bandages and hospital gown, she made it known that she had something serious happen to her. Without reading the novel before, someone in the audience would clearly have a good feeling of what had happened. I feel that all of the actors in A Lie of the Mind did an amazing job portraying their 1 Jamie Black characters. In my opinion, Amber Nelson, the girl who played Meg, did wonderfully portraying her character. She had me most convinced that she was not acting. Also, April McKeel, who played Lorraine, used her voice to her advantage. I was in shock at how great her voice sounded on stage. She has the ability of being able to project her voice, and her role was perfect for her. I feel that Beth’s character did a great job being a flexible character. At times she was a mentally demented character while other times she seemed perfectly fine. Jake and Frankie’s fight was the most exciting conflict. I was on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. While reading the script, I was not aware that there was so much yelling.
