...could see myself going through the same things and it just made me excited to know that an author could in fact convey this idea. As I write my essays I only hope I can gain this level of authenticity and make my reader feel what I am feeling. That can help bring along the same excitement I felt for the book. My most positive experience as a writer was last year when I took a creative writing class. The class opened my eyes and allowed me to see what I could do as a writer. In this class I began to find my sense of style. We wrote poems and short stories. Midway through the year I found style. I like writing humor. It was gratifying to finally feel at ease knowing that this is what I liked to write. I was satisfied in myself knowing that I had begun to find myself and can only continue to improve my writing skills. My style was also very distinct that everyone else in the class. I can appreciate a lot of old poems, but to me the majority of them are boring. I was excited to have the freedom to write as I pleased and to know that when it was my turn to read one of my poems in front of the class everyone would enjoy it because it was something that they had not been expecting.
