...rom deceases and after the revolt was dead farmers looked for less troublesome workers. Slaves from Africa were now brought in to work. They were shipped to south America to work in cultivating sugar, and in to north america to grow tobacco. They where traded by african tribes for metals to make weapons and tools with. My the mid 1680's black labors out numbered white owners two to one. After a while some of the earliest arriving slaves obtain freedom and some even on slaves themselves. This was a threat to white colonist so they put a stop to this by making a slave code. Eventually all slave rights were gone, and slaves and the offspring where owners property till death. Africans in america were treated poorly, families were split apart and they were over worked. They were eventually allowed to accept Christianity, and had Sunday services were pray and ministries were had. They also learned how to turn christian hymns and turn them in to coded songs about slavery. It was also apparent that african americans where replacing indentured servants, so much like them they started to act out. Some give was gave and getting drunk by slaves was allowed. Now in New England things where a little bit better for people in general. There was clean water and lower temperatures that help fight of bacteria. New Englanders were now expecting to live upwards to seventy years. Families were spreading well also because women where having children almost bi yearly. This scared some women later because they thought that havening children the rapid would cause them to die sooner. Children were also taught to be more obedient now because not only did they have the guidance of parents but “grandparents as well.. Women were also starting to get more rights such as protection by law for abusive spouses, but still could not vote. If a women was caught committing adultery she was required to wear a capital letter A on all her clothes. New Englanders where now forming small towns and communities. Some people would venture off and find land and start there own towns that colonial authorities would chart and help get started. These small towns consisted of a church/town hall, land to raise crops and animals, and for towns with fifty or more families a school. Puritans ran there own school because most adults at this time new how to read and write. For and major deacons, men would meet at the town hall and vote. Things the voted own were the election of town officials, schoolmaster, and construction on roads. The growing population of people caused people to break apart from there religion. This was a worry by certain puritans but one that had not been much touched, I’m assuming because that was the reason they left Old England in the first place. But in Salem, Ma three girls claimed to have been be-witched by older women and this started the “witch hunts”. There were over twenty legal launchings as a cause of this, most being women with land that they had accumulate from wealth family in market economy. The accusers where usually...
