...eness of the Sugar Act. This Stamp Act really affected all of the colonies and for the first time there was uproar throughout the colonies. The colonists organized the Stamp Act Congress which boycotted British goods, they also formed the Sons of Liberty which was a tough group of men that threatened and intimidated the British soldiers in Boston it brought tensions up from the colonists. It escalated one night resulting in the Boston Massacre after a soldier had gotten knocked down by a snowball and his fellow soldiers opened fire on the group of colonists taunting them. Although less than a dozen people died, this was the mark of the beginning of the American Revolution. After the Boston Massacre happened, the colonists formed the First Continental Congress which petitioned the King to repeal the Intolerable Acts, however before this happened the battles at Lexington and Concord broke out. Soon the Second Continental Congress formed and tried to get involved. This group sent a message to King George III known as the Olive Branch Petition asking him to cease fire, recognize American’s rights, and repeal the Intolerable Acts. Instead the King basically laughed at them and didn’t acknowledge their request. This really sent colonists into a fury and questioned the Kings intentions whether or not he was a genuine man. This was the point that turned many Englishmen into Patriots because they couldn’t blame Parliament for the taxes alone, they felt that the King had also approved the taxes.
