...she with her charm and her simplest smile, she changed her life from a lady to princess. Princess Diana and Prince Charles were married July 29,1984 at St Paul’s Cathedral (Princess Diana 2). The wedding was broadcast in 74 countries and watched by 750 million people worldwide. According to a website, Princess Diana, Diana was the first English woman to marry an heir to the throne in over 300 years (2). As the Archbishop of Canterbury said at the ceremony, “Here is the stuff of which fairy tales are made.” (Princess Diana 3) Princess Diana became the dream princess of every girl. Princess Diana to me was the epitome of kindness, an angel who drew upon her own sadness to help others. Her beauty showed thorough inside and outside. In her lifetime, she touched the hearts of thousands of people. Diana loved children and cared for the sick. She enjoyed a natural affinity with both children and the sick. She devoted much energy to their care. Her warmth and kindness found many outlets, particularly in regard to those stuck down with human immunodeficiency virus. She was spontaneous in manner, happily ignoring royal protocol to bestow a kiss on a child in the crowd, and writing letters to members of the public signed, “love Diana”. She was also president or patron of over 100 charities (TIME magazine online edition 17). She did much to publicize work on behalf of homeless and also disabled people too. According to the website Diana, Princess of Wales, in December 1993, she announced that she would be reducing the extent of her public life in order to combine a meaningful public role with a more private life (1). Although Princess Diana died, her spirit of love still remains in the world. I personally felt many ruches of emotion as I watched the event of Diana’s passing unfold on television and in the news media. At times it was sorrow for the loss of this great lady who extended such compassion and caring to the people society forgot to care for or could not love, but mostly it was an overpowering response to the love which Diana inspired in so many of us. This feeling came to such a focus at her death that love came forth from the peoples of the world in spontaneous outpourings of admiration, empathy and devotion towards Diana, and genuine concern and caring for her two bereaved young sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. During the time of the funeral preparations and during the funeral procession and services, this love which Diana inspired same forth in the form of good will towards our fellow human beings who shared our feelings of sadness over Diana’s loss, as empathy for the family of Diana who mourned her passing, and as a bittersweet resonan...
