Major Contributions to Western Society made be the Romans and Greeks Many Greek and Roman belief's are still in practice today, such as the belief in dignity of man, liberty. The Roman people had the belief that man should be ruled by law. Roman law respected the diffrence's between people and other religions. Their provinces were very much self-governed. Roman's also believed that men were innocent until proven guilty, which our modern legal system uses today. They also had the first lawyers, or jurisprudente. Pax-Romana, the peace of rome, lasted nearly 200 years, and neo-conservatives in America are currently trying to emulate it. Although slavery was an extremly negative contribution from the Greeks, it gave them the time to embark on such tasks as philosophy, and the Greek's gave us quite a few extrordinary philosephers, such as Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle who's ideas are still studied today. Aristotle taught Alexander the Great. Another major Greek contribution would be the Greek mythology. The Greek's believed in many God's, which looked like glorified versions of man.
