They had minimum wage jobs, and were forced to live in their car for over a month, until they could move back into their apartment. In 1979, Jim moved again, this time to Los Angeles. He started working in a comedy club called “the Comedy Store” and was noticed by comedian Rodney Dangerfield. Rodney liked Carrey’s act so much that he gave him a contract, and the two of them went on tour together, Carrey’s first. Carrey started working occasionally on tv, and small movie parts, which eventually led to a friendship with Damon Wayans. Wayans’s brother, Keenan, was putting together the script for a new sketch tv show for FOX, called In Living Colour. Keenan hired Carrey to be a cast member. Jim’s unusual characters and screen behaviour, caught America and Canada’s attention. Jim Carrey started playing major roles in movies, and in the 90's and 2000's he released, one successful film after another. His first major role, was in 1994, when he starred in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. In the same year, he also released “The Mask,” and “Dumb and Dumber.” The next year, he released “Batman Forever,” and “Ace Ventura 2: When Nature Calls.” This was just the start of his career.
