Who’s more mature, teenage girls or teenage boys? (using exaples from Updikes A&P)

He pays much detail to them. Their shape, size, the way they walk…But to call someone fat, ugly, too this or too that is another example of being immature. You should not judge someone on their appearance. I remember walking in one day to my local grocery store and having two Spanish workers watching me. Everything I did, they watched. I walked up to pay for my things and heard them talking about me in Spanish calling me very short and too skinny. This did not make me feel good. Having a 19 year-old still judge on appearance is typical but is sad that they say things like that just to have someone listen. It is very mean and yes, immature. “We want you decently dressed when you come in here.” When the three girls go up to Sammy’s aisle to pay, Lengel, the store manager comes out to lecture the girls about the way they are dressed. Sammy listens to what they have to say and is shocked. He feels the girls should wear what they please since they do live only five miles away from the beach. He felt he should take action. “,So I say “I quit” to Lengel quick enough for them to hear, hoping they’ll stop and watch me, their unsuspected hero.” Sammy thought that since they are girls and they were in such a terrible and embarrassing situation, he should quit to get them to notice him. Lengel did hear, but the girls did not. They continued out of the store far away from this place. Sammy was left in a distressing situation...
