...al with horrible symptoms. Most of these people had to go through all of this with no help. There was no cure, not even medicine that could help the sickness. The doctors had the highest mortality rate out of all of the citizens. This is because they were the ones that came in contact with the sick the most. (Thucydides pg 152). So, there was no hope of even seeing a doctor. Nobody else could help them because if they came near the sick they would get sick too. The brave people that did go and help the sick got sick and died. Nobody was safe from the plague. Even people that were in perfect health got sick. Most died alone and uncared for. (Thucydides pg 154). The removal of the people from the country and into the city made everything just that much worse. They came to the city and they had no houses to live in. It was very hot and they had to live in poorly ventilated huts. The city must have been overcrowded if they brought all these new people in. Nobody knew what to do with all the dead bodies. The city must have smelled really bad. People resorted to shameless acts of getting rid of the bodies. With everyone dying nobody must have been working.
