The Biomechanics of Golf
...s. Golf Swing Kinematics is a quest for the explaining the mechanics of the golf swing. One of the methods in the attempt to explain the mechanics is the SkillTec 3D-Golf. It is based on recently developed biomechanics software from Skill Technologies Inc. called the SKILL 6D-REASEARCH Motion Analysis System. This system is amazing because it can capture every variation of human motion in three-dimensions, very quickly. Small sensors are placed on the body of the golfer. These sensors measure the electromagnetic field emitted by a nearby transmitter and the electromagnetic measurements are converted to body positions and rotation values. Using a computer, these precisely measured movements of the golfer are then displayed on the screen many times per second. With the data easily accessible, the golfer can view his swing form any angle and replay it in multiple image mode. Many errors can be seen when compared to top professionals, such as excessive head, hips or torso motions. When the golfer identifies his problem, the use of audio biofeedback technology can be used to correct his imperfect motion in what scientist call "grove it" by repetitive training of the correct motion.
