...family members that notice are the two oldest children, June Star and John Wesley. All they have to say are negative things. John replies by telling her that if she doesn’t want come to Florida, then why doesn’t she stay at home. Then June chimes in that Granny is afraid she’ll miss something and that she has to go everywhere we go. Other things occurred along the way to Florida but nothing like what happened when they crashed the car. This is the point in the story when they come in contact with The Misfit and him gang. Granny speaks to The Misfit as if he is a real person with real feelings who just happened to make a few mistakes in life. She says to him,” Listen. You should not call yourself The Misfit because I know you are a good man at heart. I can just look at you and tell.” All the other characters seem to look down on him and his gang. The daughter, June, especially shows this when she says, “I don’t want to hold hands with him. He reminds me of a pig.” No other family member except Granny shows any kind of sympathy toward him at all. No one tries to tell him that it is ok to change for...
