...e to find out that we had some things in common, which helped to settle my nerves. We then started to discuss an issue of his. Tom shared with me that there was a problem with the relationship between his wife and friends. They dated for over a year and there and there were no problem, but when they got married there was one. Tom’s best friend said that he just did not like her; he seemed to be very negative. He has been married for a year and a half and it has not changed that much. As Tom was talking about his issues, I found it very difficult to really listen. I was listening, but I was always thinking of a question to ask. I am not sure if I was putting pressure on myself or if it was nerves, but I knew that I was thinking of questions instead of just listening. This did get better throughout the sessions. I did ask some good questions although. I tried to look at the communication between Tom and his friends. Tom asked his friends some questions, but they did not seem to answer. After a while, Tom felt like he was caught in the middle. He was sick of talking about the issues with his friends, so he stopped. Things seem to be getting a little better. At the end of the session, I did leave him with the thought of how to change it so it keeps getting better? I thought ...
