Pro Abortion
.... It said that the state cannot fund for abortions. Without any state or federal funding, the women of low - income are forced to have their kids and they are then obligated to use needed money for rent, food, and other necessities for their kid. This was not smart at all because now they are not only potentially killing the newborn, but they have also endangered the families of the newborns (Gerber 92) Even though this act has passed, clinics have formed for abortion funding instead of state funding. Another issue with abortion is many people say that killing a fetus goes against the catholic religion. Many people are Catholic, but not all are. The first amendment gives the freedom of speech but along with freedom of speech it grants the freedom of religion. It cannot be wrong for someone of a different faith to have an abortion because they have a right not to believe that abortions are wrong and that right is clearly backed up by the first amendment. The main argument between abortionists and anti - abortionists is the fact that when an abortion occurs, a human is being killed. The abortionists say that a fetus is not a human and the anti - abortionists say that it is. The fact is that “during the first three months of pregnancy, the Gerega 3 court said states must leave the abortion decision to women”(Biskupic 78). This, in itself, should rule out the argument of the fetus but it does not. But facts are facts. The fetus has no interest of its own and it is very hard to even believe the idea that it does. Another fact is that the fetus doesn’t have an interest of its own, therefore it doesn’t have right’s either. A fetus in the birth canal is not considered a human being because they do not have a sense of being or legal right (Turner 55). Many people complain that having abortions and killing fetuses kills a potential life. It that were to be held true then a women having her menstruation cycle would be wrong too. Since the fetus is not a human, it only has potential to become one such as a woman’s exiting egg during her cycle; yet there is not controversy over women having their menstruation cycle. So why isn’t there? Another problem with the woman’s fetus is that more than a quarter of women that have abortions get notified that the “fetus has a defect” so it would be better to have an abortion(Andryszewski 48). Looking at the fetus is a hard task until biology plays a role. Believe it or not, skin cells have a full set of chromosomes and with biotechnology biologists can clone skin cells and turn them into a baby. Knowing that when people scratch their hands they “just removed and killed some hundreds of skin cells” (Turner 55). In conclusion, this act “just killed a potential viable human life” (Turner 55). With those facts, why isn’t it wrong to scratch your arm? If many people believe that it’s a crime to kill a potential human in a fetus, then they should believe this science too; yet there is no controversy with this. This is because that it is a right to scratch yourself and have an abortion because unless it is a human, abortion is a right. Another reason Gerega 4 why anti - abortionists are proven wrong due to science is that anti - abortionists complain and say that the fetus will feel pain. This is proven wrong by science because the fetus has no pain sensors. The fetus does not develop a nervous system until 27 weeks in the pregnancy (Dworkin 69). Therefore, point proven: the fetus feels no pain. Many people oversee the problem of pregnancy and all they have a problem with is the killing of the fetus during abortions. What they oversee are serious problems. Why don’t people complain about a smoking mother, a mother on drugs, an alcoholic mother? Do they think that these things will help the growing fetus? Whatever they think and believe, the fact is that smoking can seriously endanger the fetuses health in the short and long run. The child is more likely to develop lung cancer and repertory disorders. A mother on drugs is more likely to have a miscarriage and the same with an alcoholic mother. In all these cases the fetus or child dies but suffers through pain before dying. So abortion would be in the fetuses best interest. Many analogies have been made about and over abortions. The menstruation cycle, and the scratching of the skin calls were both analogies which are silly comparisons, yet serious in their meanings. Many ant...
