It showed Bush, along with Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling, giving a motivating speech at a rally in Pennsylvania, urging his supporters and undecided voters to vote for him on Election Day. Immediately after the Bush campaign coverage, FOX showed footage of Kerry, along with Bruce Springsteen, campaigning in Wisconsin. Like Bush, Kerry was also giving his supporters an inspiring speech, thus proving that FOX News is willing to show unbiased coverage of both presidential candidates. On CBS News with Dan Rather, it was no surprise that the presidential election was the main focus of the show. It seemed to me that CBS News played almost the same campaign footage as FOX News did. Like FOX, CBS showed unbiased and positive footage of Bush and Kerry. This leads me to believe that FOX News has as much credibility to its impartial reporting as CBS does. Both FOX News and CBS News reported about how both Republicans and Democrats are fighting to gain control of the Senate. Both news networks acknowledged that the races for Senator in states such as Colorado and North Dakota are very tight. Both news stations also admit that the presidential race is a “dead heat”. If either CBS or FOX News wanted to give a biased news report on the presidential and senatorial races in America, they could have skewed the polls to favor a candidate. Instead, both CBS and FOX News presented the same numbers, proving that both news networks are evenhanded. More evidence to prove that FOX News is neutral in their news reports can be shown in their coverage of the voter fraud situation which is going on in America right now. FOX broadcaster Shepard Smith stated that “both parties should leave voters alone” when it comes to this year’s election. Republicans want to place “watch dogs” at voting locations to make sure voting fraud doesn’t occur. The Democrats are against this because they believe that these “watch dogs” will intimidate voters.
