Because of the war on Iraq, our economy seems to be going downhill. This is not surprising. I feel as if this is important to the author. Over $2000 billion dollars have been spent on the war. This is all going towards a war that should have never happened. The economic issue is very important to our nation. Everything revolves around money, and it is important to know where the taxpayer’s money is going towards. During Bush’s office it is stated in the article that he has “added more debt of the United States in his four years than all the way from George Washington to Ronald Reagan put together.” That is a direct quote from Mr. Kerry. I believe the author mentions this in her article because the reason this country is so powerful is money. In the article the author mentions how the budget of our nation has leaped from a record of $313 billion surplus when the president Bush took office to a record of $422 billion shortfall this election year. That is a difference of $109 billion dollars. I think the author wants us to question ourselves on which president will lead us into a stronger and healthy America.
