During tests they suffer convulsions, severe abdominal pain, diarrehea, tremors, uncontrollable bleeding and vomiting. They are forced to eat and drink chemicals using crude methods such as gavage whereby a tube is surgically injected into their stomach and they are forced to inhale toxic vapors, have chemicals injected into their bodies, painted on their skins and dropped into their eyes. For reproductive studies animals are forced to abort their young. Rats and rabbits have their uteruses removed so that their fetus can be weighed and dissected.
