In last twenty years technology has improved the way things are done. the new advancements are not always benefitaul to the people using the technology. this essay looks at CAD/CAM process and the way technology has affected the way they go about there job. The making process starts when a company has a idea, prototype or a drawing on the computer. Then a designer decides the best way to make the mould. The software used to design and draw up these prototypes are costly, but the software enables the designers to deliver the best product for the customer. The designer splits the mould into two halves. Then the tollbooths for the moulds are designed. There are three different toolpaths that are followed. The first cut is a roughing cut, after the first cut the metal is heat treated. This means the metal is heated to around 800 degrees. This done so the stress is taken out of the metal this makes it easier to machine the mould.
