The three girls begin coming towards Sammy’s check out line, when Lengel comes out of the door that reads manager. Lengel, being a Sunday school teacher, quickly notices the three girls and says, “Girls, this isn’t the beach.” (pg 133) The one girl who seemed to lead the others, Sammy called her Queenie, began to blush and said to Lengel she is picking up something for her mother. Embarrassing all three girls, Lengel kept preaching them about how it’s their policy for customers to have their shoulders covered. Sammy was appalled.
