This is an example for negative inequity. This means that another person receives greater outcomes for similar or less inputs. In this special case the managers might get unsatisfied when they compare their work and salary with this of the receptionist. Therefore, the owner of the company should follow the goal to be fair to every employee; as a result the staff would be more motivated. Another problem that will result for the company, because of firing the receptionist will be, that her implicit knowledge, which is very valuable for the company will be lost. Implicit knowledge is hard to copy and it takes a lot of time to substitute this knowledge, because it results out of working experience. The owner of the company has to decide, if he would like to pay so much money for his receptionist. He has to check if it is still economic to employ such a high paid employee for this position. Also he has to figure out, if this employee pays off, to get in trouble with other employees. If the owner doesn’t want to loose his employee, he has the possibility to implement a new job for her, which fits to her knowledge and to her working experience.
