Drug testing in the workplace

...he person is the best worker out of all of your employees. Drug users are unpredictable and you do not want them to do something dangerous while they are working. DesJardins and Duska succeed in their argument that drug testing is morally acceptable in the work place. Some jobs are not as risky as others and if the person who is performing the low risk job is performing to standards than let the person use drugs outside the work place. As long as they are not using drugs on the employer’s time, let the person do what they want. The part of DesJardins and Duska’s article that I do not agree with is the part where not everyone should be tested. My father referees high school football on the weekends back on Long Island. He has been doing this for 20 years now and recently they passed a law that anybody who comes in contact with kids in school has to have a criminal background check. I guess with all of the child molestation cases arising this is a good idea. My father felt as though his privacy was being violated but in reality it is only right that every official has a background check.
