The monster explained to Victor of how he came about learning to read and speak. He told Victor about his adopted family, the De Lacey’s, and how they gave him this knowledge of speaking and reading. Victor agrees to make the monster a mate only because the monster promises to move to South Africa and never to be herd of again. Victor now wants to travel back to Elizabeth so he can marry her and fulfill his promise to his mother. After marriage Victor then take the residence of the Orkney Islands. There is where Victor will destroy the second creation in disgust and travels out to sea to get rid of the remains, which makes the monster start to seek revenge. Victor’s ship is blown off course to Ireland where he blamed for the death of his beat friends Henry. Victor becomes very ill, “fever night and day.” Victor regains his heath once again and travels home to Elizabeth when she starts to wonder if he has another love. Ten days later Victor makes his mothers wish come true and marries Elizabeth. The couple travel away for their honeymoon, with Victor hoping the monster will not find then in his seek for revenge. One night Victor leaves the room and is wondering the halls of the inn, when he comes back to find the monster has strangled and killed his wife. Victor then fires a shot at the moster as he flees, yet the bullet does not wound the monster. When Victor reveals the news to Alphonse he is the overcome with grief and passes away. Victor is now outraged by the monster and is to seek revenge on him, “I have but one resource, and I devote myself, either in my life or death, to his destruction.” Victor chases the monster and around Europe and the Mediterranean Sea when the duo comes about a storm by the artic circle. The monster left notes behind to inspire Victor to keep pursuing in the chase, “My reign is not yet over-you live, and my power is complete. Follow me; I seek the everlasting ices of the north, where you will feel the misery of cold and frost, to which I am impassive.” Victor is almost at death trying to chase the monster when he is picked up by a “self educated” (Gisele Baxter, University of British Columbia) sailor named Robert Walton whom is trying to find a shortcut through the artic circle. Walton picks up Victor and promises to partake in the destroying of the monster if victor passes away. “Hear him not; call on the memories of William, Justine, Clerval, Elizabeth, My father, and of the retched Victor, thrust your sword into his heart. I will hover near and direct the steel aright.” Victor tells his story over a period of a week as Walton writes letters to his sister and reports of his failure through the artic circle and his new friend victor. Victor passes away form the exposure and exhaustion. The monster breaks into the cabin on the ship where victor lies dead as Walton and the monster startle each other. The monster then tells his part of the story and tells Walton that he is going to stay out in the cold artic circle where he will stay to die. The moster then leaps out of the ship into the mist, never to be seen again. Victor is the main character in this novel, which is the creator of the monster. Victor is the oldest child of Alphonse and Caroline Beafort Frankenstein. As a child his parents gave him a present in the form of Elizabeth. He later attends the University of Ingolstadt, while he studies and teaches physical science. Victor is a modern scientist not fully aware of the consequences of his creation. He then spends is whole life trying ultimately destroy him. The monster is created by Victor while at the University. The monster faces rejection in all mankind and seeks revenge on Victor for abandoning him with nothing. The monster is taken in by his “adopted” family the De Lacey’s, yet he still murders for revenge. Elizabeth Lavenza is an orphan child taken in by the Frankenstein’s.
