The Romans recently started hiring their soldiers for pay. This uncanny way of building a strong army proved costly to the Romans because the hired soldiers held little or no loyalty for the Roman Empire. Since the hired soldiers held no inspiration to defend their empire with their life, they were easily overtaken by Hun’s gigantic army. Another reason for the decline of the Roman Empire was population decline. Around the time of the decline of the Roman Empire, deadly plagues swarmed the Romans with no avail. The persistent plagues killed thousands of Romans, weakening the power of their empire, and consequently their support of the Roman Empire altogether. The government did little to aid the Roman Empire in a time of crisis. Corruption set in with the government officials leading to loss of popular support from the Romans. The government raised taxes, and afflicted other kinds of unpopular laws that led to the Romans disbelief in the government system. With the loss of...
