The study of imidazole and its derivatives has been a prominent study for inorganic chemists within the past decade. In 1983, Storm and his coworkers studied the pKa of complexes that were coordinated to an inert metal. His study reported that when a metal was coordinated to a complex, the pKa was approximately four times greater in pKa units than the unbound molecule with a pKa of approximately 4 in pKa units.1 The figure below supports Storm’s findings. In 1984, Brodsky and his coworkers studied the introduction of a nitro group by electrophilic substitution.
