Should some form of prayer be allowed in public schools?
...ne would expect to tip waiters, bartenders, manicurists, doormen, luggage handlers, beautician, hair stylist, limo drivers etc. The common thread running with these kinds of services is that the service provider spends a little time with the client and there is some kind of verbal or non-verbal interaction. Lately we are seeing a new trend where people with whom we have barely had any interaction are suggestively or blatantly requesting tips. This is because they provided us with goods we have paid for. It is also very common to see tip cups in fast food Drive Thru’s, Starbucks Stands, pastry shops, taxi cabs, pretzel shops and just about anywhere. As much these employees may be rendering good services, should one be expected to tip for $1.60 cup of coffee? How much should such a tip be? Most times there is barely any interaction between the server and the customer. Most of them just mechanically hand you what ever it is you said you wanted and that is it. So the client should also be expected to pay for his coffee and whatever tax there is and that should be it. Sometimes people argue that waiters and some traditional tip receivers are paid less than the minimum wage. They therefore use tips to top their wages. I do not believe this is fair to both the client and the employee. I think their employers should do whatever they need to do, to pay their employees the full wages they deserve and add it to their overhead or operational cost.
