Drugs in sports
...e the professional athletes. School athletes see their favorite professional athletes do drugs or steroids and they think it’s cool and alright to do it themselves. They don’t know or understand the risks that can cause them to be out of control or not in the right mind. Good players especially are huge role models. Some that did drugs are now banned from the teams. In an episode from That 70’s Show, a group of teens sit around in a circle and start to smoke marijuana and acting like it’s alright and cool to do it. Now the teens that are watching the show think it is ok to do it. In a movie called ‘How High’ that came out about a year and a half ago, the students that were in college were doing drugs. The two main actors, Method Mann and Redman, were in college and everything they did involved them doing drugs. When they were studying, watching television, hanging out, partying, and doing other things, they were smoking marijuana. They most likely influenced many people to copy them. In music, according to Snoop Dogg, one of his lyrics in this one song says, “smoke weed everyday.” A person who looks up to him and listens to his songs thinks it is alright to do it. According to an article called ‘Drug Addicts’, drug abuse has affected every area of society; the music business is no exception. Drugs are addicting. After one try they can get addicted and mess up their whole life. People start turning into crack heads, broke, no jobs, no family, rob people and places as a living. It is even sad to say that some people get involved into prostitution just so they can get more money and more drugs. Many people will tell new teens that have never done it before to try it one time. They convince them that if they don’t like it they can stop. Some of the drugs after one try are addictive. If a teenage mother is doing drugs then she needs money to take care of her, her child, and to pay for her drugs. Sometimes the children become abandoned because the mother is too busy prostituting to get drugs. People’s lives are ruined everyday because of illegal drugs. They will lose everything especially respect, family, friends, and their own life. All they will have is drugs and it’s not always there. In show business drug addiction is high because many stars use drugs to calm them down from being nervous or from doing scenes they are not comfortable with. After the students use the drug constantly, they might lose their fame and lose their job, life, and career. These past couple of weeks a few actors and music artists were arrested because of drug use. According to Access Hollywood, Latino music artist, Don Omar, was arrested because of using drugs. He had a concert next weekend which is now canceled because of his illegal actions. Many people listen and admire Don Omar. He is famous and his music is really good.
