Due to my rapidly compounding educational loans, I decided to attend the University of MO-St.Louis, which was much less expensive. After attending classes for one year at U.M.S.L., I was forced to pay an education loan before enrolling in additional classes. Due to my insufficient funds, my attendance at college ceased. I gained employment at St. Louis Regional Hospital and later St. Louis University Hospital as a billing clerk. I enrolled in Harris-Stowe State College in 1998 as a part-time student and received the Academic Vice President’s Honors Certificate for the Spring, 2002 and Fall, 2003 semesters. My reasons for exploring teaching as a profession seriously began when I reflected on my level of accomplishment after working nearly ten years as a billing clerk.
