“The Yellow Wallpaper”
...he is prescribed by her husband to get plenty of rest, eat healthy foods, take tonics, get plenty of air, and exercising by taking journeys. She is not allowed to work, write, or have company. Her husband thinks she will be fine if she learns to how to handle her emotions. H e thinks whatever he says is right and goes. “But John says if I feel so I shall neglect proper self-control; so take pains to control myself before him, at least, and that makes me tired”(332). After three months of staying in the home she was relieved of her depression. She also grew out of listening to her husband which was the only way she could cure this depression. “I’ve got out at last”, in spite of you and Jane”(343). Her husband is in shock and passes out because he though his remedies were always right. “The Yellow Wallpaper”, meant a lot in this story because it helped her to overcome her depression. The patterns were signs that she couldn’t make out . It upset her because it was strange and she wanted to know what this meant. During the day she tried to focus on the patterns of the wallpaper, but it was hard to see because of the sun shining through the windows in the room.
