First we need increased police patrol along borders with Chicago and River Forest. This means more cars going up and down Belmont Ave, Harlem Ave, and North Ave. We will also need more police inside the town. We need them to include alleys and more side streets in their routine patrol. They should also be taught how look out for suspicious people or vehicles in places that they shouldn’t be. Secondly, I believe Elmwood Park should invest money into buying and putting up more street lights through the town. They should be put in alleys and on streets which have poor lighting to begin with, and to put in new, brighter halogen light bulbs into our existing street lights. The village should also put some money into starting a community watch program. They should have weekly meetings to discuss what is going on in the town and how the townspeople believe problems should be handled. Also, strongly urging the residents to install things like security lights on their property, an easy way to keep your home and family safe from intruders.
