Ida and Pingala along the shusumna road

...assured her that he had the courage to go on and he would protect her, so she need not worry. They picked up their things and began to walk up the road. Their steps were slow yet persistent as they looked on either side of the road, they found Potatoes, Carrots. Onions and Beets growing in orderly rows. A smell of sweetness filled the air as they walked. They thought about their ancestors and how they had come to this land. Their struggles and hard work made all this possible today. As they walked up the road, they looked down at the earth below and had a gratitude for the support they felt beneath their feet. As they watched their feet take each step, they rounded a corner and came upon this waterfall that emerged out of the mountain. It splashed them with a refreshing coolness. At the base of the falls was a beautiful pool that flowed and flowed sometimes violently sometimes gently. Ida and Pingala sat at the edge of the pool and tasted the water. It was salty and it had an orange hue. Lost in their emotions they began to hear this chant flowing out of the water much like the call of a siren. VVVVVAAAAAAAMMMMM VAM, vam Vam vAM the sound flowed like the waves of the sea. Ida noticed along one side of the pool were pearls of all sizes and shapes being offered up from the waters. He went to appreciate their beauty wanting to take handfuls of them back to Ida. This place had a strange hold on the couple. A lure so deep that they stayed for weeks here enjoying the sensuality of it all. They ate food from the area. Many melons, green vegetables, cucumbers and squash. Ida danced for Pingala and devised new ways to keep him here in this paradise. She had grown so attached to this place she could stay and make a home here. He knew that they had a purpose to fulfill and reminded her about their need to provide nurturing to the town from the liberation of Kundalini. He allowed her the space and continued to reminder her of their duties to the town. Awakening one morning they fell into each other’s arms to enjoy their pleasures together. After a creative picnic they decided that after all their pleasures they must continue up the road. They began their journey anew, refreshed and satisfied with themselves. Walking for a while they both saw this painting up ahead, held so strongly by this muscular man. He was wearing a yellow garment and he invited them over to his camp where he had a huge fire burning.. He spoke to them in a loud staccato voice emphasizing his accomplishments and the many things he had created for the good of mankind…. The sun burned the air with an intensity that the couple began to shake and a sweat broke out on their foreheads, solar plexus and thighs. They wondered at this isolated expression of heat through out their bodies. Pingala was experiencing a newfound enthusiasm and Ida began expressing her anger towards this man that boasted so unashamed. All at once a sound pierced the silence ….. RAM RAM RAMMMM RAM … it was loud and direct much like the man and his stories…. The sound subsided and the couple grew hungry as they watched the man cook rice, beans and bitter herbs over the fire. He invited them to dinner. When they had satiated their bellies they thanked their host and bid him adieu. Energized from the experience, they found new strength to climb higher and higher up the mountain. As they rose higher and higher up the mountain they began to touch and dance up the road at quite a fast pace. They had much to do and their minds were racing, thinking of all the ideas they would share with the townspeople when they returned down the hill. Pingala thought of the unconditional love he had for humanity and the compassion for all. Ida switched between her desire for future projects and her judgment of all her life accomplishment to this point. The landscape switched abruptly to a lush green. Grass covered the mountain and filled the path where they walked. Emeralds began to fall from the sky and rain down in small burst. They both knew the qualities of gentleness, quickness, and lightness, knowing mobility for their bodies like never...
