Eventually, he declares his love for her. She agreed to be his lover if he could clear the rocks near the shore of the ocean. Aurelius believes such a task is impossible and travels to Orleans. Arviragus returns home and Dorigen told him the truth of what happened. He says he will bear the shame of her actions, and that adhering to her promise was the most important thing.
