Instead of killing Algren, the leader of samurais changed the mind of Algren by treating him well without humiliating him and Algren was enlightened by the way to live as a samurai. Samurais are not only fighting warriors, but they have certain moral principles to follow and to practice besides warfare. Eventually, Algern became a real samurais, and helped the sumaurai rebels fight against the tyrant Emperor’s troops. The spirit of samurai inspired me a lot. It showed me properly how the spirit of a soldier should be. Loyalty is necessary for a warrior that you have to obey and fight for your lordship. But it does not mean that killing the opponents without mercy are all a soldier need; Integrity is another important element to be a real samurai. As what was shown in the movie, the samurai leader spared Algren’s life even though he was the enemy because the moral principle taught the samurais to take good cares of their injured enemy instead of torturing them. Love is presented beside the bloody warfare. Just like what the Bible said – to love your enemy. This is definitely sounding weird in today’s world with people regarding Capitalism is the real truth and the key to the survival of fittest.
