should women be allowed to fight in combat?
...n our recent wars. Had it not been for the brave women, the outcome of many of our wars might not have been the same. Regretively, when engaged in any type of war, there are almost always soldiers captured by the enemy. If women are allowed to fight and one of them happens to get captured, they are more likely to be sexually abused than a man would. There is a recent example of this in the book “I am a Soldier too”, by Rick Bragg. On march 23, 2003, Private first class Jessica Lynch was crossing the Iraqi desert with a maintenance company when the convoy she was traveling in was ambushed, caught in enemy cross-fire. All four soldiers traveling with her died in the attack. Lynch was taken prisoner and held captive in an Iraqi hospital for nine days. During those nine long days, she was beat up, tortured, and sexually abused. Had that been a man in her place instead, he might have only been beaten and tortured. Then he would’ve came home with no evidence of being sexually assaulted. Women can be an even bigger help in the military now than they have been in the past. However, are their bodies actually able to do it? There is a television station called ESPN that’s all about sports. It shows strong men and women competitions on it annually. When you compare the strong women to the strong men in each event, there is a big difference. Apparently, women’s bodies cannot grow the muscle tissues that a man’s can. The men are over twice as big as the women are. Women in one event lift a couple one to two hundred pound concrete balls onto a short wall. Men, on the other hand, lift several four to five hundred pound ball onto the walls. In addition, the men pull several limozenes or school buses down a road a short distance. Where as the women do half that much. Also, the NFL has no women in it. Their bodies are not capable of taking the poundings that men get in these games. This isn’t saying they can’t run or shoot a gun though. It just proves that men’s bodies are built in a way that allows them to perform at a higher level than women’s. If women were allowed to be in combat roles, it would slow down our country’s growth after a war. Since women are made to be the givers of life, not the takers of life, they are the only ones that can nourish a country back to health. If women had participated in combat roles in the past major wars we’ve had, our country may not be as big and strong as it is now. It would take a short time for a lot of women and a few men to repopulate an area as opposed to a lot of men and a few women. So the more women we have, the faster our country can regain its strength. Men in the past have proven themse...
