My personal goal
... had an interest in computers and was always trying to “fix” them even at a young age. I always thought that any computer education was out of reach because I was never very good in high school. So, instead, I attended a school of Theology for a year and then a Technical college to become a Mechanic and ultimately became the manager of a retail book store. I had looked at the possibility of going back to school for some time but it never seemed to be the “right” time. So here I am in school. Is this the right time? I guess you never know until you try. Today I am trying. I am now in school with a personal goal of attaining a degree in Information Technology Sciences. This actually will accomplish 2 goals. The first goal is to obtain a degree. I have always felt left behind because I never finished a degree of any type. It isn’t that anyone ever put me down because of it; I have just always felt that way. The second goal is to pursue an education in some area of computer support. I have been repairing computer systems privately for a few years now and I have always wanted to do more. I know that there is a lot more to learn before I can do that so this will also accomplish that goal. Those 2 goals aside, ultimately I want to be able to leave the retail industry and pursue a career in I.T. support and finally my own I.T. consulting business. To that end, there are some steps to follow. First is the BSIT. This is the step I am in currently. I am really excited to be starting this leg of my journey. The second step is getting an entry level job for a company in this field. Whether this is a help desk position or a field position is really irrelevant. The third step will be obtaining a Master’s Degree in I.T.S. to give me that little extra for my own personal self esteem. This will, hopefully, all be done while I am working and also starting to do some consulting on the side.
