...my employment life in Cedar Rapids. When I got back on the job some of my fellow employees started to tell me that the place was closing down, at first I thought they were just kidding around but I soon came to realize they weren’t kidding at all. I consulted my manager and he affirmed it, telling me that everyone was notified about this at a meeting while I was on vacation. I was very disappointed, only after two weeks of working there I already lost my job. In the afternoon on the last day of work I did my duties as a bus boy, but I was very frustrated ’cause I knew that after I punched out I would be unemployed once more. As I looked around me I realized that this was very tough, not only on me, but the many other employees of the Royal Fork. I saw employees who had worked with one another for so long cry as they gave out hugs, everyone there had become such good friends and they were sad to see each other say good-bye. Apparently the Royal Fork building was being sold to some people who plan to turn it into a Chinese restaurant. It was a nice place to work and I had intended for it to be the first job to last for more than a week or two, unfortunally that wasn't the case. It was during the school year that I had applied to several businesses in the area, mostly in the food industry: Taco Bell, Bebops, and Royal Fork. The only place I received an interview was from Royal Fork. I prepared myself for the interview with a nice suit. I practiced my answers for potential questions the manager might give, and after I went through with the interview I came out proud, for I had received the job. I had to clean the tables and the seats, I had to transport dirty dishes to the dishwashers, and I had to sweep up crumbs from the floors. It wasn't the most exciting job ever but it was good enough for me (and a lot better than landscaping). After a good two weeks of hard work at the Royal Fork I had to go on vacation to St. Louis during spring break, I would've rather stayed and got in more hours but I was forced to go. I had a good time on vacation and was prepared to return to my...
