...m the line in the story “I’m already putting on weight” leads you to believe that the young woman is pregnant. It is obvious to see that because of there race they can not have a normal relationship and must try to hide what they are. Now that the woman is pregnant they have to decide what to do and the woman tells her mother of what has happened to her. The story sounds like it takes place in the south the way her father would have felt about the situation she is now in and the way they row out into the lake to talk about the situation. After talking to her mother she has decided to get an abortion. You begin to understand that because of there race difference they can not be together. ...
