...e alone with Curley’s wife, and of course he thought she was nice and wanted to talk with her. George was also disappointed in Lennie because he knew that even though Lennie didn’t know he killed Curley’s wife, he knew he had done a very bad thing and tried to cover it up. George was disappointed in Lennie for what he had done, but he wasn’t disappointed in Lennie that he had to kill him, because that wasn’t Lennie’s fault. George knew that if he didn’t shoot Lennie then the other guys would. Curley had his disappointments through the novel as well, but frankly he was just a disappointment. His biggest disappointment was that he was sexually inadequate, hence his petroleum jelly filled glove on his hand. He also had a problem with everyone being taller than he did, so he thought he had to beat everyone up because of that. He was mighty disappointed when he tired to beat up Lennie and Lennie broke his hand during the fight. Everyone knew that Curley had gotten his hand broken by Lennie especially Curley’s wife. Curley’s wife was disappointed in many things mainly in her decision to marry Curley. She hated Curley with every bone in her body. She resented him ever touching her and him ever speaking to her. She was also disappointed in herself because she gave up her dream of being an actress. All she ever wanted to do was act and she had the chance to go with a show on the road, but gave that up to marry Curley. Curley’s wife wasn’t the only one to be let down in this novel, there was also Crooks and Candy. Crooks was a lonely very well educated black man working on the ranch. He was so disappointed that no one ever wanted to talk to him because of his color; this made him a very sour person. All he wanted was to have someone to talk to and he thought that he had that when Lennie went to his room and talked to him, but that didn’t last long. As soon as him and Lennie were talking George told Lennie to get up and not to talk to Crook again.
