Comparing the Illiad and Odyssey

...hat famous for his great strengths like Achilles, but he really has a great ability to deceive and trick. It was Odysseus idea to take Troy by offering the citizens a large wooden horse filled with Greek soldiers. Also, when Odysseus returns home he cleverly plans and overcomes the suitors who pretend to his wife and homes. All the hard situations that Odysseus faced with shows us and proves his wonderful ability to maintain even the hopeless situations by staying brave and not loosing hope and belief. Secondly, I definetaly prefer the Odyssey for the role of women in the poem . Women are more independent, faithful and strong in the Odyssey than in the Illiad. We can see the characters of Godesses for example Circe and Calypso. In the Illiad, women are more as a trophy, a prize for winning than an important personality. Moreover, the Odyssey shows a picture of a faithful, loyal wife and caring mother – Penelope. I admire the picture of Penelope because she is waiting twenty years for her husband return. She is and ideal example of the perfect moral wife and mother. Third, I would consider Odyssey as a poem that provides a life lesson for each of us. In my opinion, Odyssey is a metaphor of a human life.
