How would they feel about his second life, and would he ever see them again. When he got home, everything was quiet and pitch dark. He was anxious to tell his wife about his infidelity, but everyone was sleeping. Just the thought that in the morning he was going to have a talk with his wife had him up all night. When his wife woke up in the morning it was still dark out. She lights the lamp in the kitchen in order to start getting things ready for breakfast. When I walk into the kitchen and she sees me she doesn’t even react to my presence and this is exactly what I’m tired of living with. I say to her, “I am tired of living like this and I believe that you are to!” “Why should we be holding on to something that doesn’t even exist!” “Is our family really a family?” “What are you trying to say?” ,said his wife. “What I’m saying is that I don’t love you, and I never have but I have finally found true love.” There’s complete silence and she just continues to do what she was doing, and I go into the bedroom and take out a suitcase that is under the bed, and start to pack a few things. My heart is pounding so hard that it feels like it’s just going to jump out of my chest. The kids are still sleeping and to know that I’m leaving them is just tearing me apart. Before I leave, I walk into their bedrooms and give them a kiss. I stare at them for a while so that their images don’t ever fade from my mind. I put on my hat and coat and leave. While leaving the house, I look back twice to make sure that my wife doesn’t walk outside to try and tell me something but she never does. I’m on my way feeling confused, good because I finally told my wife how I feel but awful because I left my children, but one day I know they will look back and realize that what their mother and I had was nothing.
