Is Deckard a human or a replicant in the movie Bladerunner?
... that Deckard has been around the police force for many years. If Deckard was a replicant why didn’t he have a good attitude towards his colleagues? Surely a replicant be like a super-cop. As well as this he drank, stressed, quitted his job. This sounds more like a human than a robot. Deckard has been working in the police for many years, and has been recognized as the best Blade-runner in the force. This shows that he had the full respect of his colleagues and their trust. The job Blade-runner has been introduced to this film as person who tests replicants and kills them eventually. How could a replicant test their own kind and notice the difference between human and robot? If they do so, why wasn’t Deckard curious about his reaction to questions that he’s asking? Because Deckard wasn’t a machine these things were all possible. As a final point Deckard represents the audience in the text. Another word he is the human being in this film. Deckard is human therefore viewers sympathies with him and compare his life to the replicants. Deckard is on the audience’s side. They cheer for him. Harrison Ford (Deckard) clearly said, “ Blade runner was not one of my favorite films. I tangled with Ridley. The biggest problem was that at the end, he wanted the audience to find out that Deckard was a replicant.
