The Amish Society
...onceptions of the self, the universe, and man’s place in it. The description of the Amish way of life makes me think of how I have lived my life and the society I live in. I am a Christian. After reading this article, I wonder if I have allowed my religion to determine all my life’s decisions and does society base its ideas and practices on a religion? The article stated that the old is the best, and the new is of the devil. It is hard for me to understand how groups in society believe that it is okay to walk into a bar and leave intoxicated, abuse our children, etc. These same groups do NOT think it is okay for “God” to be mentioned in the “Pledge of Allegiance”! This is the devil trying to corrupt our society. He is taking away the old, which is the best, and trying to bring in the new, which is his way! We can learn a lot from the Amish.
